On February 15th, Mrs. Bock’s grade 7 and 8 Literacy students had the amazing privilege of meeting Paul Toffanello who gave an inspiring presentation of his accomplishments as a writer. During the presentation, he engaged and entertained students, and he taught key strategies to help them become better writers. Through his slide show, students learned many things about his life the challenges of being an author, and the reasons behind some of the main characters and settings in his books. Students enjoyed listening to Paul read aloud parts of his first book and you could hear a pin drop while he read. Grade 8 students have now begun reading the first book, “Popchuck’s Ghost” and also plan to read “Popchuck’s Revenge.” I’d encourage any teacher of students in grades 4-8 to contact Paul and invite him in to present. He is inspiring and an awesome presenter.
